(for question scroll down till the ***)

So like 2 weeks ago i'm browsing on ebay just for random stuff and I find these PT04NE (external link) Flash radio triggers for $2 shipped.

$2? I thought to myself, it's dirt cheap even for Chinese knock off stuff.
I immediately ordered a pair, since $2 would not even cover the shipping so I basically got them for free.

They come in 2 days later and work perfectly, even came with brand new batteries!
First thing I did was log back into ebay and order another set, then 3 days later the seller said something about quality control blah blah blah. Truthfully they messed up on the price. But no worry I already had a set and they gave me a refund for the second.

Long story short I'm now wondering if I can set these up as a wireless trigger for the shutter.(EOS 10D)

The receiver has a PC cable port like the one in my camera. So I'm wondering if I buy a male PC to PC (external link), will it trigger the camera?

I'm guessing not, but I don't know anything about flashes or triggering.
I'm getting a newer body soon so I don't want to buy a dedicated shutter control for this one, but a male to male cable is only $3 vs a wireless shutter trigger which is $40.

Anyone? I guess I could just always buy a hot shoe mount and a N3 connector. Would still only be under $10.

then I just place the mount on the receiver and connect it to the camera with the N3.
