Just bought a Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM for $125 shipped

I know it's not a lens that's gonna wow me often, but for $125, I think it might be worth messing around with on my 5D. Just wondering about the price since I'm not seeing many of these around for sale. I did have back in 2005 when I bought a Rebel XT, and it was one of the cheapo lenses I got in a kit, but it served me well I guess.

so are you asking if you got a good deal? no idea, really. but at $125, it's around the price of a nifty fifty, so you can't really go wrong. and even if it's not, you've bought it already. just enjoy the lens. :)

That was my primary lens for many years. It's not quite as sharp wide open as some of the newer lenses but it's certainly not a super soft lens either. The build quality is great, and I think you got a good price. As a seller I was able to get $175 for mine about a year ago. Enjoy that lens!

As a long time owner of this lens, and still have it, $125 sounds like a good price. I agree with comments above; it's not going to sweep you off your feet or take your breath away, but it is not bad either. I have found the build quality to be pretty good, the quality of image to be decent, and the aperature range to be workable.

Now, the creamy bokeh and super sharpness of my 85 did sweep me off my feet when I got it, but as a workable walkaround zoom that covers a lot of ground, my 28-105 isn't going anywhere anytime soon either.

My quite modest little gear list: 50D gripped | 135L | 50 1.4 | 50 1.8 | 85 1.8 | 28-105 3.5-4.5 | Speedlite 420EX | 2 Yongnuo 460ii | stands, 2 umbrellas, one softbox
