Hinson Goldmember More info | Jan 20, 2013 07:46 | #3078 James; for traditional portraiture, the lighting is almost spot on. I (personal opinion) would raise the fill light to eliminate the second catch light in the right eye and possibly move it just a tad further back to reduce the exposure on that side of the face. Other than that, the lighting is great. Shows what you can do with the basic equipment. I learned years ago, that spending way too much money on equipment such as high powered strobes, etc. did not make you a better photographer nor was it even necessary in most cases. Artist tools: Lumix FZ1000 (Canon 60D, 28/2.8, 10-22mm, Tamron 28-300mm VC ALL NOW FOR SALE - REASONABLE OFFER)

Used $7.00 clamp lights from Home Depot with daylight bulbs, and parchment paper for diffusion. C&C welcomed and appreciated. The lighting looks good. It's a shame you lost the top of your head. I'd have sacrificed a bit of chest and kept the head. That's if it was a cropping issue of course. If you were just doing the best with what you'd framed in the picture then so be it. My Flickr

I would never get close to the ground with my 30d... These pics were shot with the tamron 17-50 non-VC and the geese are shot with 70-200 f4L IS. Camera: Canon 30d + 60d
