A 30x40 if well exposed is not at all hard to accomplish. I've only done one that size but I routinely do 16x24 and 20x30 with no degradation at all. With the right image, I'm thinking a 4'x6' would be possible before there was noticeable pixelation. And remember, the larger the image, the further back the viewing distance will be.

My uncle upgraded to a 5DIII so he sold me his 60D with less than 9,000 actuations for a steal. I bought it on Christmas day. Here's just a few frames.
