What version are you using for these pics? They look great and so crisp still. In fact, because of these, I downloaded the trial version.

Are you using the "default" noise reduction or do you tweak it? TIA

I just use the default settings. They work just fine.

Also, it's a good point to note that there are several similar image noise reduction programs. Noiseware just happens to have a batch processing mode in its full paid version that works well. Considering the number of people who are upset with high ISO noise, it's interesting that these pleasantly effective programs aren't used more often.

In my mind - Yes. I love the cleanup it can do.

If one does not have Lr or ACR then Hinson's test shows excellent alternatives are out there.

I've taken ISO 12800 shots that were properly exposed outdoors and I don't think I applied NR just to show that it was not necessary in that situation.

I pulled the trigger. I bought from Adorama as they have a deal on a year warranty for $7.95. The B & H is same price-refurbished, its just sold thru used dept. If you submit the email for condition, it comes back refurb. Their extended warranty is much more though.

I switched to a EF-D focus screen not long after I got my 60D. I love it. The grid is very faint so it's not obnoxious. It doesn't affect the metering at all. I do find I'm more likely to get the horizons, etc level and buildings plumb. The built-in level doesn't seem to be practical for me, unless I'm setting up on a tripod: using it in the viewfinder seems cumbersome to me but to each their own.
