Whether you shoot RAW or not is up to you and how confident you are in your PostProcessing skills. I am comfortable with my pixel editor (GIMP, pretty much the Linux equivalent of Photoshop) while I find going through Darktable (the LR equivalent) to 'develop' the RAW a bit tedious. Of course, occasionally it pays off... YMMV.
ETTR means that you push your histogram (by overexposing) to the right until it just about blows the highlights. Then, by reducing the overexposure to normal (pulling back may be a stop to stop and a half, in RAW) the noise is substantially reduced.
Conversely, a well lit (slightly overexposed) jpg contains surprisingly little noise, which can be dealt with in post.
Whatever makes you more comfortable

EDIT: I mentioned histogram. You can get your histogram at photo preview (the light blue triangle at the bottom) when you press INFO twice (three times if you want to see the RGB histograms, the choice to view histograms stays until you press INFO again in photo preview)
Got it. Good information Thank you very much.
