Planning on going to the New York Comic Con and want to take some pics inside where it can be kinda dark, so I bought the 50mm f/1.8. Would've preferred the 35 or 28, but even spending the $100 on this was pushing it.

Anyway, went to a Medieval Festival on Sunday to get used to the fixed (and a bit too long) length and approaching cosplayers.

Looks like the 50 should work good for you. If it seems a bit long to you it might work better by keeping you from having to crowd your subjects too much.

But this is my favorite shot of the bunch. A sort of Rasta Robin Hood. He's got dreadlocks but no arrows! And there's that funky blue ocarina. And I'm guessing there's an iPhone tucked away in that leather utility pouch slung over his shoulder. Lots of fun stuff going on here!

Yeah, he was having a good time posing for the little circle of photographers that formed, and that smile is half grimace 'cause he was getting tired holding the string.

Will,

Though I like your photograph, it brings back memories of fall in the North. When we lived in the "North", I didn't care for fall because I knew winter was right around the corner. Being color blind, I couldn't see the fall colors everyone else enjoyed.... I just knew it would be cold and grey for the next 6 months after the leaves had fallen.

That is one thing I love about Florida: it stays green here year 'round, for the most part. Lots of people love the 4 seasons. We have enough variety here for me... we even get below freezing on a few nights each "winter". ;)

After living in Houston, TX for 12yrs (Texas total 20yrs) I got tired of wearing shorts on Christmas and New Years.

I grew up in Montana and Wyoming and then spend almost 30 years suffering through the grey winters in PA. I've seen enough snow to last me the rest of my life. I often say, if I want to see snow, we rent Doctor Zhivago.

I'm ok wearing shorts year 'round. ;)

I grew up the exact opposite. Was born in the mid-west but grew up in SoCal, spent a few brief years in mid-west again as a teen, then the rest in Texas. I've always loved snow and missed it. I don't foresee moving back to a southern climate again, unless it's the Phils which is actually tropical lol.

Our plan B for retirement is to move to Bali, Indonesia. We both speak the language and love the country, people, food including the tropical fruits, landscapes, etc.
