But if you crop from the 5D original to the same field of view, do you end up with an 18MP or larger image?

Yeah, that was my original question about quality loss.
Would there be a difference in final image quality between 60D shot and a cropped 5D shot?
Is there some technical, processing difference between the cameras that would make up for any pixel count difference?

Canon 60d users, what custom settings do you have, that gives the portrait, landscape and family photo's?

How does the Canon 50mm 1.4 coupled to the 60d perform? I am considering the 50 1.4 and would love to see some examples here, and opinions from those who have the combination. thanks

Here are a couple of mine...its probably my favorite lens to play around with. It made it in the bag when I went to Spain last year and Hawaii this year even though my 17-55 covers the focal length.

Looking back at the original question, steunited has the 5D Classic, which has 12.8 megapixels. Cropping an 5D-1 image in post to match the same shot taken with the same lens on a 60D would result in something like a 8 mp image (I think).
It may still be usable, but it's a lot smaller than 18.

I've got that combo and used that pretty much exclusively on a recent trip with my wife to Portland. It worked very well IMO, great travel combo (light weight/compact/versatile)

Here are a few:

It's been a really long time since I got on POTN (nearly 2.5 years), but as long as I'm here, some of my more recent work.

IMAGE: http://i1263.photobucket.com/albums/ii635/Caitlin_Greig/Joanna009.jpg

I'm wanting to start practicing with models more, but between my work schedule and the fact that I don't know where to find them, it's a bit tricky.

From what I am seeing you do not need any practice. You nailed it!

But then I am no professional either.....

Here's the 60D with the Tamron 18-270.
I used it to make up the range in tight area not wanting to change lenses.

Hey; I've got one of those. This little fellow joins me almost every morning while I read my paper and drink my morning coffee. I'd like to think it's my winning personality but it's probably the bread my wife throws out.

This was shot with a 55-250mm kit lens that I borrowed from my son. I'm surprised at how sharp this cheap lens is. The performance is much better than my Tamron which costs almost three times as much.

Thanks. I got kinda lucky with her. She'd worked with my boyfriend before on previous shoots and knows how to pose herself so I didn't have to tell her anything.

Boyfriend, for the record, uses a Nikon D7000 and an FM2n for film. We're a fun couple... His primary hobby is complaining about how much more affordable the lenses are for Canon.

And in the spirit of continuing to contribute:

This is the untouched version of this photo. Hard drive crashed on me in June, so I lost a lot of stuff, including the finished version of this, unless I had a speck of intelligence the day I edited it and put it on my external. Too lazy to check. I've got a bunch of sunset attempts to go through from last night.

It certainly is a good "bang for buck" lens! If mine hadn't of been stolen, I wouldn't have any reason to get rid of it. It would still be in my bag, today.
