Practice, practice, practice. :-)

It took a while but now I'm pretty happy with the number of keepers I get.

There are some BIF shots over on my Instagram. Scroll down a bit for the eagles. Some of them don't look very good on a PC but I blame that on the IG cropping tool instead of doing the cropping in PS/LR. I figured that out the hard way.

...

Same here. But if I put the bead on the bird, it works fine.

If you click at the link, you can see quite a few BIF.

Some of the photos I took from the Commemorative Air Force (Houston Chapter) Air Show last weekend. There were many guest planes from other CAF chapters and some later than WWII.

But I always get a thrill listening to them revving up for take-off.

Some recent shots from the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. Somehow they were fortunate enough to attract "lowbrow" artist Robert Williams for a three day appearance and a big display of some of his most recent work. And the museum itself was the perfect place to shoot with the EFs 10-18.

Thank you, Pekka! I'm sure some members here might have imagined that POTN might begin winding down. But that doesn't make the news any less disappointing. So generous of you to allow us to go along for the ride. As a result you gave us a way to help each other become better photographers. But there's still so much more to learn.

I'm getting more comfortable using the free download of DxO Pro9. And I'm still stunned by how easily and how well it works for bringing out shadow details.

A few months ago I went to shoot some eagles and was very happy with the number of keepers I got.

Fast forward to yesterday......... I went behind my house to a nearby Osprey nest. It was windy out so their flying was quite erratic. The AI Servo failed miserably. At times I was hitting BBF and it wasn't even able to get focus. Other times it did a bit better but checking over my photos the images were still pretty soft even with 1/2000 - 1/2500 shutter speed.

I'm thinking a 7D2 might be closer in my future than I originally thought.
