A fellow forum member loaned me his 70-200 2.8 II for the last three quarters of a local high school football game, and I was floored by his generosity. He was actually kind of excited to try out my 100 f/2 as a change of pace (he shoots with dual 5Diii's)

Half-joking, he walks up to me and says, "If you want to be a real sports photographer you need a bigger lens."

We had just hooked up on a story I wrote about how amateurs can improve their sports photography last month, so the irony made it even more funny. At any rate, the images I got from the 70-200 2.8 II were even better than I thought they would be and my expectations were not low. I love my 100 f/2, as I am a big believer in "love the one you're with". But shooting with that lens for two hours was like getting to borrow a Porsche to take to prom.

The way my 60D responded with the pairing was great, and I chuckled a little bit at all of those photographers who say that my camera isn't supposed to be a good sports shooter.

A couple from yesterday (60D w/ 55-250mm set at 250). Watched air show from about four miles away.

F22 Raptor flew with a P51 Mustang, made a pass overhead. I kept shooting and when I looked at one of the images I "lost" the Mustang but gained a hawk (for real!). Very minor cropping, sharpen and curve adjust.

Regards,
GEWB

wow... Is Raynox better than extension tubes?

Well I guess it depends on what focal lenght you plan to use them, for example on longer focal lenghts I find the Raynox is better because if i't mounted on top of a 135mm it will give you around 10-12cm of working distance, with a magnification of 135/125= 1.04:1 without any light loss

But if you want to put the raynox on a short focal lenght it will not give you much magnification and here the extension tubes will be the route to go. if you put 50mm of extension tubes on a 50m lens it will give you a 1:1 magnification with a little litght loss, and a working distance I guess around 4-5 cm , haven't measure that combo yet, but it's shorter than with the raynox.

So I will say extension tubes work best on short focals, and the raynox work best on long focal

Also when the Raynox is mounted on a 250mm lens gives you 2:1 (250/125), so for a 300mm lens it will give you 300/125 a 2.4:1 mag.

Hello there!

First time posting in POTN but been reading the foruns for some days/months!

I'm from Portugal - Azores, and i bought a 60D last december! Since then i got some "new" glass (Sigma 70-200 2.8, Samyang 8mm fisheye, Canon 20-35 USM, 50mm 1.8...) and sold the 18-55 a few days ago!

So, i just stoped by to post some photos and say thanks to all of those who post in this, and other threads, it's very nice to see beautifull pictures and get some ideas from some of them!

Thanks alot to you all!

Here goes some of my not very pro photos:

Has anybody made the jump from the T2i to the 60D? I'm thinking about upgrading to this camera since I don't really have enough to upgrade to any solid lenses but I'm not sure if it would be a noticeable enough upgrade to make it worth it. I feel like the upgrade would come mostly in the feel/size of the camera.

I did mainly for the wireless flash trigger, but there were some additional bonuses as well. Keep in mind they have the same sensor though.
