Slayer topped a stupendously awesome bill for the kickoff night of IBYM, held at Alexandra Palace in London. The other bands were Sleep, Melvins, Wolves In The Throne Room, YOB, and A Storm Of Light. Killer. Here are some shots from Slayer's set. The stage was extremely high, and though the pit was fairly generous in depth, over the top crowd surfers meant you had to stay focused on what was happening in front of and behind you.

Yeah, Tom is getting up there. His voice also sounded really shot the last time I saw them. Guess years of screaming will do that!

Since it's a bigger show, I highly doubt it, but are the still doing the "raining blood" effect during Raining Blood? They started that quite a few years ago and remember seeing it in Chicago.

i am not sure what the 'raining blood' effect is, but they did play that particular LP in it's entirety for this show.

thanks for the comments, everyone.

For one tour (at least one I know of) in 2005 they had a sprinkler system set up that rained fake blood during the song Raining Blood. They had it on a live DVD (clip here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqwIZNECRoU (external link))

I would hate to see what that would do the their gear!

As far as I know they only did that for that tour a few years ago. I saw it too and wish they would bring it back.
