Hi
I am in Canada and there is not one of these lens to be had...this after taking 3 weeks to decide I was ready. B&H has a used one rated 9+ for about $700 less than new. I have never bought a used lens before but know B&H to be very reputable. Also, wondering about the date code, which is US0805 which I think is 2004. I know some of these earlier lens had a few problems, but no idea how to find out what date codes they would be. Any advice on either point would be very appreciated!

Thanks!
NJ

I have rented this lens in the past and was quite happy (especially on the dimensions of the DO type).

I would purchase a new one as opposed to that 8yr old due to 1) out of warranty 2) not knowing what or how it went through (i disregard the physical and cosmetic condition). Im assuming this is not a $$$ issue since this is a serious investment. If it is, I'd wait to get the funds for a NEW one. You can always rent.

Ask this in the "Canon EF and EF-S Lenses" forum. This doesn't belong here in the "Lens Sample Photo Archive" subforum.
