I am a sports shooter, but happened to take shots at a local club, and now they want me to shoot more. All I could use was a 50 1.4 that I normally use for basketball, but it was way too long since I was right up against the stage.

So my question is: I was thinking of one of two lenses: either a 35 2.0 or 28 1.8. Obviously there is a slight advantage with 1.8, but was wondering if one was any better than the other.

Any thoughts/opinions?

35L is a good lens...are you shooting a crop or FF?

Should have mentioned that... shooting with a 1D4. And I can't afford an L lens, that's why I was looking at the 35 f/2.0 or 28 f/1.8. Figured I can sell the 50 to fund the purchase since I don't really use it that much anyway.

I'd take an 28/1.8 over a 35/2.0
Not for the very slight difference in aperture, but for the FoV on a 1D (35mm equiv.) and the USM.

I have both, but the 35/2.0 refuses to work on my 1D3.

Advantage of the 35/2.0 is that it's cheaper.

Really depends on what & how you want to shoot though.
