The results were awesome. I made a print for the client (11x14) and they wanted to cry. It is an awesome lens for portraits. You won't regret it...great lens. Jesus De La Llata

On your XT it'll still be great assuming that you have enough room to use it. For living room wedding portraits I wouldn't want to try a prime lens any longer than a 50mm lens (on my 10D or 20D) since there's rarely room to back up. A zoom lens (I use the 24-85) on a 1.6 camera is useful just because to can loosen the composition when you need too. That's where the new 24-105 is going to be very useful. The 100mm works great for any subject ,including portraits. Put the term "100mm" in the search tool on this forum and you'll find quite a bit more discussion on your exact question. --gmaize

A portrait that shows every single blemish is not necessarily the most flattering, but you can correct in PP ... just make sure the people then don't end up looking like dolls. I'd use a shorter lens myself. https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1203740
