Do not even try to tell me to crop this tighter. This is a skate photo, I am a skateboarder, THIS is what skateboarders want to see.

They're ollying up there with their boards, lol. The framing shows the run way of where they came from.

The background kind of takes over the photo and they are a bit too dark. Great captures though.

I think it works well in the first one, but it is to dark in the 2nd one for sure.

yeah no need to crop tight. shadows and exposure is fine. I prefer #1 mostly due to framing of skater and rail. The black shirt with bright background of the building makes a good separation of the subject (as opposed to image #2-which deceivingly looks under exposed-black shirt with dark shadow background). If #2 was also framed more towards the right (cutting the foreground tree) it would probably make a stronger image.

do you have any shots from a lower level (1-2ft) and bit closer? overall good job!

1 is awesome.. 2 is lacking. front boards are the hardest rail tricks to shoot imo. :/
mind sharing this spot location? how long is that run up/is the run out any decent?

also, i'd put a bit of padding on your watermark. i don't really like how it's right at the edge of the frame.

The spots in Chicago right off Lakeshore Drive. I can tell you exactly where if you'd like to know. The run up is fine but you need a bit of speed because there's a gap after the rail.

I don't really like #2 but I put it up anyways, #1 is by far my favorite. Yes I do have a shot closer to the ground butthe grass is in the way and you can't see that landing so I moved up a for height wise so you could see it.

Yeah, I caught that in the OP, which lens did you shoot this with? I do like #1 better of the two, but I also think both would benift from a shallower DOF for more seperation and a little less light( not to be confused with underexposed) and a face. I understand that you wanted to show more of the rail and I dont really have an answer for you to get him to look up or what, or different angle??? but eyes always help an image.
Just my personal thoughts.

this looks like a 50 on a 1.6x. for the front board, and idk if it's possible, try shooting from a roof. often times framing the skater against an empty ground leaves the background less distracting.

kinda a bad example, i shoot mostly video so i don't have any of my own shots to show you.. that's all i could find doing a quick 5 second google search.

All I do is mainly shoot skating anymore, lol. But I used a 50mm 1.4 and background wise I know what you're talking about but there was no way I could have shot against a simple background but I shot one from up in a tree that I'll edit later!

I had to shoot a high aperture because it was sunny out and I had 2 off camera flashes set up. I was shooting with a 50mm 1.4 by the way.
