Some things to consider:

1. lighting - angles, time of day, time of year, etc.
2. backgrounds for images
3. use of natural perches
4. Attracting the birds using food, water, calls, etc.
5. Use of a blind
6. Behavioral patterns
7. Image planning and execution
8. Goals for images you want
