Random bird shot, Sandpiper?

Was at the aquarium and they had a beach habitat for some birds. I know I should have just looked for the sign that told me what it was but there were a ton of people in the way

First pic is a Black-necked Stilt, a shorebird grouped with avocets. Background in your shot is interesting, not normally something I'd associate with a stilt where I usually see them.

Thanks for the ID coopert! It was a man made habitat at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, thats probably why the background was different than you expected.

Thanks Rick, the gull was from about 50 feet away but I liked how he contrasted with the water below him.
