I'd like to see tighter crops, the surfer is underexposed, you really can't see his face with any detail and the over all color is not exciting me. The surfer has yellow shorts that are not vibrant because of the lighting and exposure. Also the surfers in the background are distracting and should be cropped out Lloyd

Michelangelo Please don't rant on about doing product shots, I'm not doing that. If I was doing Product shots I'd shoot with a tripod at 100 ISO. This was to assess the detail and grain whilst hand-held at 1600 ISO under artificial light. For those who might be interested in such a test with WB and grain, this is for you; hope it helps. Also the surfers in the background are distracting and should be cropped out If the sun was reversed hitting the front of the wave and surfer it would be cool, but the sun light is behind the subject and the "action" of the breaking wave. I suppose you call that back lighting but it's not working for me on this surfing sequence. The sequence does not give any kudos for the focusing ability of the 1DX either. The first shot or two it looks like the camera focused on the surfer than as the sequence progressed and the splash moved in front of the surfer the camera focused on the splash and the surfer and his face is OOF and blocked out by the splash. Wow ... aren't you a ray of sunshine? Did he ask for all of that? Didn't realize this thread was an extension of this one: https://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=12 1DX7D - 40D IR converted Sony RX100,
