That shot should sell quite nicely.

Decided to take the DX plus a fisheye into the games last night.

Waited till the end (security were basically pushing me out the door)...

Iso 5000 still reasonably clean.

OK, I'm no bird photographer but I got a nudge that the kingfisher may make an appearance at a nature reserve. Taken with 1DX, 500mm & 1.4x II. Cropped from approx 10% of frame. The AF has worked great - I don't think I'd have had anything like this kind of result with my 1D4... The pics seem a lot crisper now.

So much for the ban on reasonable sized / pro cameras... ;)

That's a great shot Andrew. Noticed it is f/8. Manual focus? Or does AF work at f/8 with an extender?

First off -- holy crap (edit--on your bird pic!), that's awesome with that heavy crop and all that distance/glass.

Regarding the ban on pro gear, I think I could pretty reliably toss a body-capped 1D in a cargo pocket, and a wide lens in another cargo pocket should get right by a search. I'd just need to let go of trying to capture the action, and instead go after the scene.

The f/4 aperture is only reduced to f/5.6 with the 1.4X extender. The camera focuses at f/5.6 and then stops down to f/8 when the shutter is tripped.

The ban was stated to be on the 'size' of the camera (no more than 30CM) however people were taking 100-400s in.

I didnt want to chance it so just took the fisheye and UWA with me so if there were any arguments I could argue that what I could get wouldn't be useable against those working for the wire agencies on site.
