That's a great shot Andrew. Noticed it is f/8. Manual focus? Or does AF work at f/8 with an extender?

It was taken with the 1.4x, not the 2x

With the 2x, there's no AF - it not like it's working but slow - it just doesn't work at all so you've got to use manual focus.

I was trying aperture priority for once on the 1DX to get some DOF on the bird. Previous stuff on the 1D4 has been on shutter priority at high speed to try and freeze the bird but in lower light it opens up the aperture and ups the ISO - not good on both counts

The ban was stated to be on the 'size' of the camera (no more than 30CM) however people were taking 100-400s in.

I didnt want to chance it so just took the fisheye and UWA with me so if there were any arguments I could argue that what I could get wouldn't be useable against those working for the wire agencies on site.

I dont own one as I think its a horrible lens. However when its not at 100mm early on in the games people were getting into trouble for having them.

The f/4 aperture is only reduced to f/5.6 with the 1.4X extender. The camera focuses at f/5.6 and then stops down to f/8 when the shutter is tripped.

Really nice. Looks like you had the 400 at 2.8 1/1000 and auto ISO. The IDX is friggin awesome for night football. .
