Ok, i don't have 5D mkIII, but i think a body design is one point, i heard AF of 1DX is way better than 5D3, higher ISO is better if beyond or higher 12800, some said the color rendition of 1DX is truer or better at highest ISO than 5D3, and ofcourse the fps is something not to close eyes about, sure there are things might 5D3 be winner, but at the end, what are you looking for? If you can't afford 1DX and want 5D3 to beat 1DX in all aspects then you did a crime for us, i should go with 5D3 instead then.

Is the AF difference largely because of the motors? I'd have though the detection/points is the same as the mk iii.

I'm not trying to justify my mkiii, I'm just open to the idea of picking a 1dx up, and I am about to pull the trigger on a 400mm f2.8, I am guessing it would team up better with a 1dx over a iii?

It may be due to the dedicated digic iv processor that controls AF in the 1DX. I chose the 1DX over the 5D3. Better decision, for me, sure. ;)

much better decision, not too fussed with the mk3...so I got the 1DX too.

I still hate the sd/cf card slots on the mk3? Cant see the logic in having two types of cards in one body. Either SD/SD or CF/CF, not SD/CF. Stupid canon engineer.

Agree with the SD card point.

I may pick one up in the new year, pure hobbyist. Only problem is my partner will moan at me to spend the same on a watch for her or something... :P

I see marriage/engagement doesn't work with photography, good that i started photography long time after my marriage and i put my rules about what i can buy and my wife must respect it, now she is working so she can buy her own stuff by herself, no time for jewels.

It doesn't haha...I bought my kit en masse in the space of two months or so, did not go down well with her!!

Now saying that since I am getting a big lens, we should go on a safari etc...

Back from the match about 3 hours ago, i feel asleep and i can't work on the photos now, but i hope what i saw on LCD will be true, many nice actions, and i love that match for a reason, i hope you can tell me or guess the reason when you will see the results later, so tomorrow or it is today our time [Thursday] i will work the photos and post later.

I know my 1dx is ultimately going to cost me a new piece of jewellery for my wife!

I upgraded my insurance policy immediately after buying the 1dx and 24-70 lens, and let's just say the total cost my camera gear is insured for is a pittance compared to what her existing jewellery is insured for....

Canon 1dx & 7d gripped, Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L, Sigma 120-300 f2.8 (sports), Sigma 70-200mm f2.8, Sigma 24-70 f2.8, Canon EFS 17-55mm f2.8, , Canon EF 50mm f/1.8, Sigma 8-16mm f4.5 - 5.6, Sigma 2 x teleconverter, Canon 600EX-RT Speedlight.

Did you use natural available light or a flash?

If anyone shows images of high iso, they can't be submitted if a flash was used as it would be pointless

no flash was used. you can click on the image to see the exif data

Just testing out the capabilities of ISO 102400. These were sitting on the table, about 6-8 feet from the x-mas tree, and just lit by the lights on the tree. Some serious noise reduction...but, I'd still say that's pretty fuggin' slick. ;)

200L 2.8II, 1/200th, ISO 102400, @ f2.8 -- And focus locks very quick...much quicker than any cam. I've used before. :)

For sure. And I didn't run it thru any noise reduction program, or ACR, or anything like that. Just DPP...for the record. Thanks. :)

I just edited 24 photos out of about 500 shots of yesterday game i went to shoot, it is very difficult to choose, because i can have even 40-50 decent shots great enough, 1DX making me shooting soccer more fun and easier, i get more keeper with it, and my 300 2.8IS became sharper now more than when i was using it with 1DIIn and 1D3, it is like this camera suddenly fixed an issue with my lenses primes or zooms.

The only downside or cons i see with my 1DX shooting soccer is i need longer glasses, i crop a lot, and the results even looks better than cropped of 1D3 but i feel i lose a lot of quality and clarity i need to reserve.
