time to get the 600

I suppose that's as good an excuse as any to add the 600! HaHa!
But truth be told, I wouldn't have changed a thing! Spent almost 3 hours getting beat up by F-18's and EA-18's standing right on the edge of the runway. Most of my shots were 70-200 and filled the frame!
Here's a pic of the insane setup...

Did you and Jay carpool or caravan?

I'm assuming these events aren't open to the general public and that you guys belonged to some kind of club that gave you access?

Not that I could've left my office but someday, I'd like to give this a whirl!

Jay went down the day before and got some sleep! I was the crazy who did the whole thing in one day!

This was through the AZ Aviation Photographers group. There were 20 of us from there. The rest of the 70 total were from similar groups in CA and elsewhere.
Join a group then get out there and shoot!! It's highly addictive though!!

By the way what exactly is the battery capacity of the 1Dx? I shot 1500 pics over Fri and Sat at London Fashion Week and it still only dropped 1 bar! Pretty impressive

Not sure but I just got back from a full day shoot at El Centro (Blue Angels training) and burned through four 32 gig cards and just to
make sure, swapped batteries after the 3rd card which meant close to 4000 shots. It was at 50% when I stuck it on the charger. The other battery which only had the one card had one bar down. It's pretty crazy!
On a similar note, my 5D mk3 with grip used 2 32 gig cards (about 2500 shots so not full) and it was only at 50% when those batteries went back on the charger!

If you don't pixel peep too much, you could probably squeeze 4000-8000 if you are bursting.

I know I shot an Airshow once with my 7d, had over 4000 actuations and battery read 43%. That was with battery grip.
