Ignoring the fact that the tests don't test the complex AF system, weather sealing etc...

The 5D is a great piece of kit, however if people think that it's only the extra frame rate where the differences are they are being a touch short sighted. The whole AF system is better on the 1D series so in any challenging AF scenario the 1D will have the edge by a mile.

Hence why I don't get the '5d is still the camera to have'.

But in all honesty, how many here are even capable of extracting the difference in two prints side by side? butterfly2937 wrote in post #14687481 The whole AF system is better on the 1D series so in any challenging AF scenario the 1D will have the edge by a mile. I think 'challenging' really depends on the person behind the camera. People have been turning out quality work for a long time with out the 1Dx. PhaseOne H25

Ill make it easier, I'll say two files. A camera body isn't just about the files it produces.

Looks like a stop to the 1Dx......I definitely don't see 2 stops Mike

But the advances in todays cameras make shots possible that were near impossible before. It is hard to deny how technology has made what was once thought of as impossible now possible!

Yes, the AF and the build of the 1dx is better, but in what conditions and for who? the 1%? I can afford multiple 1dx's. But as i am getting older (hit 34 last month), I am getting wiser w/ my funds. I have 3 -5d iii's, 2 - 1d iv's, 1d iii, 7d, 60D. sure i want a 1dx, but i am not sure the pros outweigh the cons on what my gear lineup is now. No sorry I thought canon included a self destruct mechanism the second it clicked over the rated number.

I have never shot with the 5DIII, so can't comment on the quality, functions, or feel of that camera. But I can tell everyone that after owning and shooting with the 1DX, I'll likely not own another body. Absolutely zero buyer's remorse. I was hesitant, going from the 1DIV and 5DClassic, but I am 100% glad I did it. Good luck to all those who are waiting. For those with no interest in owning one (but who still seem to comment in the 1DX owners thread), don't shoot with one unless you are OK buying one. It's certainly a big step forward in many regards. -Chris (also formally known as "imtrashed" if searching feedback thread)
