If you were asking this just nearly when i will have my trip to PNW then you can compare to my 1DX, but i will travel to there in September i hope if everything will be alright, then it is too late as you will solve your issue so far that time.

Thanks Tareq...I'll figure it out, but not soon enough it seems. Stay tuned!

If anyone is interested, the dilemma appears to be "me." I took my gear to Glazer's downtown Seattle this morning and we compared pics with their 1DX using same settings/lens and they were identical. I left feeling a little deflated but relieved. Deflated because I had built up my perception of this camera so much that I expected to see pics 10x better than my 5D3. So reality is faster focus and less pixels...a fair trade off since I shoot sports 90% of the time.

I'll look at any micro adjustment, but like I posted before - there's no obvious front or back focus issues. I'll also brush up on my Smart Sharpen skills and other post processing skills and use RAW.

Any suggestions for shooting baseball? I tend to find success in shutter priority 1/1250+ and auto ISO and I used Case 2 on the 5D3, but I read articles saying Case 1 and 4 may be better. Too, I was shooting with AF expansion (up, down, left and right) and may try AF 8 point expansion. I think the last two (using all 61 - zone and auto selection) may pick up unwanted subjects.

Suggested settings welcomed :)

Well, i don't give more attentions on settings around on the net, i just go with camera Cases settings i am good to go, no much complicated issues here.

I hope i can shoot more different sports than just football, maybe one day i will try to shoot some indoors sports including basketball and see how i can do, i did shoot Marathon 4 times before in 4 years [once every year] and last time was with 1DX [that was last year, 2013], it did a better job over my 1D2n and 1D3 over years.

Thanks McLaren777...wish you had the same body, but perhaps we could set your 5D3 and my 1DX the same, on tripod, and then use same lenses and go from there. I would like to find that it needs microadjust, but I can't find any sharpness in the pic to tell front or back focusing in any aperture.

I would like to test more. I would be very interested in someone with a 1DX to post their EXIF data of a sharp image. Just curious.

Not the best image but shot at a local rugby match on Saturday, I just downloaded from DPP to PS6 and adjusted Levels no sharpening whatsoever, the focus point was on the chest of the runner with the ball (center point with expansion) case 6 with sensitivity at maximum (ISO 6400, F2.8, 1/1600).

After one round of sharpening with Focus Magic - strength 1.

Better light, sure, but still a bit tricky to get the focus at the right spot. I'm fine with the result, especially considering that this is with a 2X III extender as well. The 1DX is definitely the best camera I've ever had, but I haven't had any top model from Canon since the F-1. Just second to top.

I am currently in Maui staying in a condo at Kaanapali Beach and this is the view from our balcony......Sadly I dont have the ability to do any editing here other than a simple RAW to jpg conversion but I should have plenty of pics to share when we get back home next month. (The graphics on my laptop here are pathetic, so bad I cant even use it to adjust image brightness or contrast etc)

This shot was taken with the 24-70 lens with a CPL and then also stacked with an 8 GND filter.

Nice one, John. Have fun there.

My wife and I got married around there almost 10 years ago. Man how the time flies.

Took the camera gear up to Cumbria. Some great places for photos near Workington.
