I spent about 4 hours retouching that image. But, no blur layers, no artificial 'smoothing,' etc. Takes a while, but, I hope the results show. ;)

Thanks TM. :)

The results do indeed show - by carefully hiding what you were doing those 4 hours.

It's magic! :)

Really though, all done in photoshop using multiple layers to dodge and burn. A little bit of healing here and there, and white balance correction in DPP. Sounds nice and easy, right?

^^^ Yes, nice football[american] action shots, the clarity and sharpness is amazing, didn't know that 500/600 can be used for sports as well, thought mostly 300 and 400 only, but i have to know that any longer tele lenses can be used in sports if know what to shoot and where to stand.

Not bad for ISO 6400 in tough light. I should do some noise reduction but its pretty good SOOC. I never post anything un-edited but this not bad.

Thanks Tareq. Many would lead folks to believe the the 400 is the only player in town, but that's not the case, the 500 and 600 are great lenses for American football. I've used both. The 600 requires a FF body though - anything else is too much. I like it because I don't have to stand along the crowded sidelines and I can get really, really tight shots. I gamble a lot with the distance, but when I win the gamble, I get some really nice tight shots that don't require any or very minimal cropping. I also have the 300 2.8, but it's too short on a FF and requires me to hover on the sidelines, so I use it with the 7D2 mostly to regain that reach. There are days I use it just for those sideline type shots or when it's dark out.

Btw, with the 600, I can sit in the opposite endzone and catch plays at the other end of the field.
