Yes, welcome to 1DX world!!!

This camera sounds getting a big success for Canon, even 5D3 or 1Ds series didn't get that much success, i don't have or use 5D3 before and i have 1Ds2 and 1Ds3, both are great but 1DX gave me edges, maybe its 18mp isn't that much appealing for FF compared to many new FF nowadays, but for sports and birds or wildlife it sounds that 1DX having so much fun to be used, even my 1D2N and 1D3 didn't have the same fun shooting in sports of what i do.

Recharge the battery, load the CF and shoot, post here, we can't wait to see what you will do with 1DX.

I agree and being great for sports is an understatement. I shot night football at ISOs 8k-12.8k and they cleaned up so well that it looked like ISO 800. The birdies like it too.

I hope you are half as happy with your 1DX as I am with mine - any more may be bad for your heart!
Seriously though, there is no perfect camera but I think the 1DX is as close as it currently gets. It gives lovely landscapes/portraits and is currently the best (IMO) for wildlife and sports. I have used the competition (well there is only one!) and it doesn't stack up.
Don't get too hung up on all the alternative AF settings, for the first 6 months that I had mine I had it set up wrong yet it was still then best focusing camera I had ever tried! Now that I have my 1DX set as I want it it is FAR simpler to use than a point and shoot. Just get used to it and change one setting at a time to see if it suits you.
All the best, I won't wish you Happy new camera as I know you will be!

Life is for living, cameras are to capture it (one day I will learn how!).

Thanks guys, been enjoying in the low light we have just now, such a beautiful camera, the shutter also sounds a bit quieter than the 1D4.

I like it when things turn up 3 days early.

My new selection of cameras. I sold my 5DII to a friend for £200 :p it did have 300k on the shutter and she's over the moon with it.

Got myself a 6D to replace it with and the 1DX came today 3 days before I expected it, I answered the door thinking it was the 6D until I saw the label.

Im so happy to be part of this group and can't wait to start contributing, sorry for the phone photos just now.

Welcome! You will love it!

Can anyone help me out here. I looked at the firmware and decided to see if it needed an update. The firmware on canons site was 2.0.8 and on the camera it's currently 8.8.0

Anyone have a clue what is going on here before I update it.

Quick google found a German guy had the same issue.

It's a factory menu and probably shouldn't have left the factory with this installed.

I'll just update it to the latest now.

Yep very annoying, when I press menu on the camera it automatically goes there. So its a trip to canon as they have the only means of getting it off. Even a firmware upgrade doesn't shift it. I can live with it for now.
