A classic sunset, captured at the world famous Huntington Beach Pier (Surf City USA)... The "Spring Forward" sunset for 2019 did not disappoint!!! No filters used... 1DX + 16-35LII ... ISO 100, f/13 @ 1/20th sec... I'm curious to know how 'his' picture came out?! Hehehehe...

:)

Not me. Mine broke because somebody opened the tailgate of a car, and a bag, with the camera inside, fell out.

Well im going to have to say good bye to this thread as i took the decision to sell my 1Dx. After much deliberation i decided a 5d mkiv suits my needs more. I know some will say it is a mistake, but i felt that the smaller size, less weight, more pixels, wifi, touch screen suits my needs better. I didnt need the 12fps, infact i never used it. Loved my 1dx, hope the new camera gives me as much pleasure. All the best folks ߑͰߏ

I bought a high mileage 1Dx last year - it had around 500,000 actuations and had just had it's shutter replaced. Not sure if the shutter had failed or the owner wanted it done before moving it along. I got a copy of the Canon service sheet so can confirm the work done. Looks a little beat-up but these cameras are very well built so I know the insides are fine.

[edit] just checked the service sheet and the shutter had failed - "white band on left side when in portrait mode" cost total NZ$773

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

I did a similar thing but didn't get on with the 5d4 and now own a 1dx2.

I too thought the weight was a bit much but, when I added a grip and a spare battery, the 5d4 was only a 100 and something grams lighter.

Great image quality from the 5d4 though.

Thank you so much for the info! I was looking at one with high 300k+ but ended up with 70k+. Hopefully it last another 200k+ before i throw in another 800-1000. Right now im just gonna shoot away

Just ordered a pre owned low shutter (23,000 actuations) 1dx.
Can’t wait to play and see the improvements over my 1d4 :-)

Congratulations Jeff!

The 1-D X is an awesome camera.
I think that the only thing that I do not like with it is that its "silent shutter" is far from silent.

I look forward to seeing many great images from you in the future, arising from your 1-D X!

The silent shutter (or lack of) won't be an issue for my photography thankfully.
It will mean my 1d4 can go into semi retirememnt as my back up body:-)

I'm looking forward to seeing how much better the low light abilities will be and hoping the focus tracking will be better still than the 1d4.
