Hi folks. Last few days my 1D X will not power on maybe 1/2 the time. I am convinced it is the switch on the memory card door as opening and closing many times wil always eventually get it to workl. The switch and door look perfect and I can manaully trigger the switch so it appears to function.

Anyone ever have this issue? Anything I can do short of sending to Canon?

Thanks.

Years ago, my 1DX's PCB(?) board died. It would give me the occasional on/off issue. If the door seems fine and the switch seems fine... it might be the PCB board. Of course that would require a trip back to the Mothership for inspection.

Sadly, it's probably cheaper to pick up a new camera instead.

Thanks.

First, I can always get it back working after 10-12 tries opening and closing. So maybe PCB, maybe not.

Canon tells me they no longer service this camera!! I am amazed. I have 8K into cam, l bracket, batteries, memory, etc. And I love this sensor. Cam has <9,000 clicks.

So, will look at independent repair places. Will check with CPS for possibilities. And if not, may have a like new (with glitch) 1D X, charger, batteries, l bracket, box, all accessories, car charger, etc for sale. Must have some value. But I'd rather have it working.

What a beautiful machine. I dare say it sounds as good as it looks.

A place in Glendale CA knows the issue, has parts and will repair for $262. Its a DC PCB board.

Glad that you can get it fixed.

Happened to my 1DX early on, enough where it was still under warranty and Canon fixed it for me. That was many, many years ago. :D

Oddest thing. I was about ready to send it in, and now cannot get it to fail!!! Batteries in and out. Change batteries. Cards in and out. Nothing. Will not fail. Maybe it was a sticky switch on the battery?? Dunno.

Has happened to me too. Camera refused to work. At the camera repair shop, it refused to die, so they did nothing. Kept on working ever since.

Thanks. i have to think its battery switch or contacts.Nothing else makes sense to me. But I wil not replace the DC board unless it fails again. Getting tired of trying to make it fail now :)

If you want to do the same to all, create a recipe and apply that. Otherwise, no.
