I did a newborn shoot earlier today and am having a super hard time editing the images. The babies face and head is A LOT more red than her body. Im using a adjustment layer, selecting the reddest most offending tone with the dropper and then selecting the tone I want it to be with the minus dropper. Then I move the right arrow end point in the lower section until Ive only selected the offending areas. (Almost her whole body) However, whenever I make changes, it seems that some areas change too much and others not enough. Do I need to make a few of these adjustment layers to even the bad tones and then even it all with the good tones? Here is what Ive started with. Thanks in advance!

Edit - Ive made a few adjustment layers and Im a lot closer. The "fixed" areas now looks kinda orangy/brownish. Ive tried putting a bit of red back in evenly but to no avail.

Here is a quick adjustment. Placed a sample point on her arm for good color and another on her face to change. Used a Curves Adjustment to match up each channel and then masked. Used the same process for another Curve Adjustment for the spot over her eye.

Hey Dennis. Thanks so much! It looks like youre pretty close to where I am as for as color. Its a bit more "orange" than your edit. What does everyone think?

 A newborn's skin is very translucent/thin, hence the red color...easiest fix is to throw a gray card into one shot. ;)

The shot is from a custom wb using a grey card. :) the color is accurate, just unappealing.

Rene...are you suggesting that color is a subjective choice...kinda like the eye of the beholder.

Just edit it till it looks pleasing. Who cares about accurate ;)

Then again, the dng profile chosen in ACR / picture style in camera/DPP will have a big impact on skin tones. Don't (ever) use "portrait" for portraits

HAHA Its funny you mention that, as I find "Portrait" to pretty much be useless.
