My team threw its first race and we were able to use the roads in a correctional facility. My 5D3 had issues and I had a serious hold up with UPS that delayed my shipment of my camera in time for the race so I had to resort to using my daughters Rebel XTi.

I know these are nothing on the level of Dan-O's or others here but your opinions/tips are appreciated as I'm looking to learn.

Thanks Rick. The long sleeves are from the teams skinsuits & I'd say they were lucky their race was earlier in the morning because the day hit a high of over 100*.

Thank you for checking out the pics and commenting. At first review of the pictures when I downloaded them into the computer I passed though #1 quickly and almost trashed it, but after looking at it a bit more I liked the barbwire in the background that shows that the race was around and jailhouse facility with inmates. Thought it was an unusual shot that you probably wouldn't ever expect to see a bike race.

Good work. I was going to go out there but just felt like a long weekend of riding instead. I replaced my 1DMIII with the 5DMII, I think you will like it.

Thanks Danny. I'd really like to shoot a lot more of the local races but its tough balancing family, work, training/riding, & shooting so I definitely know what you mean. :D

I cant wait to get to use the 5D3 more. I missed some shots with the Rebel that I know the 5D3 will be able to capture.

What SS was 1 shot at? I think it would be a keeper if it was just a tad higher.

#1 was at 1/20sec.

Photography is crazy...I was on the edge of tossing #1 as I felt the same way about it, but a lot of the guys I ride with, who aren't into photography, absolutely love #1. As a matter of fact my team is using it on their store website page.

I guess thats why feedback is so important in the learning process because you never know...I love it. Please keep the feedback coming!

I have noticed the same thing with people who are not photographers. I look at a pictures and want to throw them out because it's out of focus, has the wrong white balance, and I can't see any faces. But my client will ask me to keep it because it's a "cool" picture. I will never understand!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!....and another reason why sometimes I'll get my wifes opinion if I'm on the edge on whether to keep an image or toss it, just to get a non-photographers opinion because you never know.
