Any recommendation on a mid-grade lens for indoor pictures without using a flash? Mostly he'll be taking pictures of his family indoors during the day time. He does have the 580ex flash, just incase. He will be ordering the lens along with the 20d and wants to be sure he's ordering the right lens for this purpose. Thanks!

I hear good things about the canon 35mm lens also. I'm sure others will chime in with good suggestions also. I have that one that I use for concert photography along with the canon 70-200L. The only thing is he wants to also use it for outdoors too and wants a zoom. I think he already has the 50mm 1.8. I recommended the canon 17-85 until he said he wants it for indoors too, and the 4-5.6 surely won't cut it! Thanks for replying! I posted on fredmiranda like 6 hours ago and no one responded yet!

A buddy of mine recommended the tamron 28-75. Both are about the same price-wise and both are 2.8 all the way through. Thanks for the suggestion!

But to me 2.8 isn't always fast enough indoors and would pick up a fast prime, probably the Canon 35mm f/2 or the 50mm 1.8. I'm taking pictures of everything, so go ahead and take this place away from me.
