100 - 400 IS L Locked up

So recently this lens's IS feature stopped working for a day. Then since its worked fine. Now I have just used it once (never mistreated) and the focusing ring started to grind. (imagine salt and peper dispensers over a meal) Thought something must of got stuck in there (weird as its very well looked after and hardly used) twisted the ring a few times and it got tighter and tighter until it takes a huge ammount of pressure to move it now.

Either way Im taking it back but what a bloody anoyance!
