Ok, had this for a few months now and still getting used to. After letting go of my Mark 2 and also picking up a 1D Mark IV getting used to the new contols on both has been harder than I thought.

Unlike the 7D or 5D2 the autob focus point selection does not show up on the Quick Control display to select. Why they eliminated this I don't understand. (Canon please put it back). The only way I've found to put the AF up on the back LCD display is by selecting the Quick Contol view that you get with the Info button (third press of the info button) and then pushing the AF select button.

Is there a quicker way? I know I can push the AF select button and look through the view finder but for me that is more difficult when I'm checking my setups.

Also, it's been really hard to understand what comes up when on the LCD when the info button has been pushed. On the 1D Mk 4 it's a little more straight forward. I push on info and then push AF, or ISO, or Mode, or WB and the appropriate menu comes up on the LCD.

Thanks for the link. Yes that exactly describes what I see. I didn't realize they call it the "shooting status" screen.

On the 1D Mark IV, witch has no quick control, the shoothing status screen is the first screen to come up when you press info so getting to the other screens are quicker. I'm trying to find similiar ways to do things on the two cameras.

That said, why the change from the 50D, 7D, 5D Mark II behavior with putting it on the quick Contol screen?

Found I could limit the displays brought up by the Info button and limit it to the shooting screens. Then I get to push the AF button to set the AF points on the color LCD and not just in the viewfinder.

Of course I then loose display of the level and the other status screen but for now I can live with that. Now choosing the AF shooting points is almost identical on the 1D Mark IV and the 5D Mark III.
