Question for Fototime (and others) users

I guess this could apply to any other photo hosting places as well.

For the most part i've been uploading my images at 1024x768. I think most people will appreciate the fact that i dont want to link the original size here. But linking to the smaller generated version, one definitely notices the loss of sharpness. So do most of you just upload a smaller photo to Fototime to begin with, so that you can link to the original image here and have it seen as intended?

Anyway, here's an example. Any criticisms on the photo are welcome also. It's nothing too great, i'm just trying to illustrate my point.

Don,

On my first postings, I used 1024x768. The last batch was uploaded to Fototime with the wide dimension kept to 800, and I compressed more. I can see the texture in the snow in your shot, and am not looking for CA or JPEG artifacts! Unless someone makes a good case for larger pictures, I plan to keep to smaller and slightly compressed ones. I admit I am somewhat influenced by my 800x600 LCD monitor and analog modem. Wonder how many others are, too?
