Thanks, Linda and Watsy. Toby, that's certainly a valid perspective. If I could choose any catch light shape, I suppose I would prefer to have perfectly round or slightly oval ones. However, I haven't been able to manage that shape while also getting adequate light below the subject. I guess at this point I'm choosing to favor even lighting over oddly shaped reflections. The best reflections I have seen come from natural-light shots with the horizon and sky in the background, but I still have not found a photographer who can manage those on a regular basis with living jumping spiders. Why do they have to be so darn jumpy all the time?
