I have tried for over a year to get close enough for a pic, w my 400mm 5.6L, and than it happened. (4 weeks ago), after nearly 3 hours of waiting on one to get closer... and apparently my presence generated enough curiosity for this one to fly right over my head... I got 15 quick snaps off toward the sun, in AV priority, center spot focus, with exposure pushed by 2/3 of a stop .... This particular image was in focus and best of the entire set... It was featured on a regional afternoon TV show (PA Live), earlier this month... John Stoy

It's your positive feedback that encourages me to get to these wetlands, well before sunrise, and wait to greet the little critters at first light... It's often the only time I get to see the Eagles... Early morning light is low and it's just a matter of seconds, between a good keeper w the long lens, and having to reach for smaller, shorter lenses that might admit more light... Makes for great photography experiences... You all have fun! Cheers!!! John Stoy
