I went to the river near to where I work this morning to try out my big stopper on the weir but the water was far too dirty to try anything

Just about to leave and these little beauties appeared. The cubs are about 6 months old

What a great way to start the week.

Wow, you lucky person :D According to Countryfile (a BBC programme about wildlife and farming in the UK) the Otter population in the UK is increasing. I would really like to know just where you got to see these???

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

Funny you should mention Countryfile. About March time when I was walking across the bridge I took these shots from there were two chaps looking, investigating, taking notes, phoning etc. I watched them for a couple of minutes, approached them and had a chat with one.

Yeah, you guessed it they were from the BBC's Countryfile investigating if there was enough in the area to do a story on the Otters. What happened? I don't know.

These were taken in Blandford on the River Stour.

Thanks and yes Rick they were great fun. When Mum disappeared you can hear the cubs whistling for her. That's what the first shot is, then he sees her and is off.

Thanks for the update re location. Is that an all year round regular haunt for them?

I seem to only ever be in places like Blandford on business such as the flying visit tomorrow afternoon, rarely have time to scout out or spot good places to return to for a photographic day :(
