Hi, I'm considering purchasing a backdrop holder and muslins mainly to take photos of my kids (1 yr-9 yrs old). What features should I look for? Obviously I want something sturdy that won't fall over if one of the kids bumped into it, compactness is also good. Does some of these double as a flash stand?
As far as muslins, what's the difference betweenthe fabrics or even paper? Would some fabrics look bad if folded away and than taken out to use?
I don't want to spend too much of this since it's a hobby for me. Any tips are are appreciated.
Luckily, I work close to B&H, but I'm not sure if they have them on display there. I figured it would be good to have some sort of idea of what I want before I went there to look.
Thank you!

I already have two of the stands that come with this kit which I use as stands for Speedlites. They click together for storage and transport. My only concern is that the crossbar might not be long enough but I could always get a longer crossbar.

Thanks for the reply Mike. I'm sure those are nice, but $227! I know you get what you pay for, but those seem expensive to me. Thank again, that's coming from someone that only recently learned that you can spend $500+ on a decent carbon fiber tripod. So what makes this better than $100 stands?

Well the kit is basically two 1052BAC's ($68 each), the 272B crossbar ($58) and some clamps and a bag. The stands are really nice and stable, air cushioned, and I love the stacking function. I personally haven't decided what I want to do about the crossbar. I don't really need a bag. I might just pick up another pair of 1052BAC's and a different crossbar. Keep in mind that the 272B crossbar is designed to hold paper rolls so its likely a great deal more robust than a $20 bar meant for fabric. I just wish it were longer. Manfrotto is a good brand so it'll cost more than some brand X stuff.

What's the stacking function do? Sounds good, I guess I'll take a walk to the store and check them out. Hopefully they'll have some stands on display.

The legs fold up flat, then two or more stands can be snapped together. They take up less storage space since they're flat and can be stored/transported as one unit.
