We saw 50+ breeches in 4 days off Lahaina, Maui. Sometimes we saw huge humpbacks breech 6-10 times in a row. There is nothing like it. Locals call Whale Season "Whale Soup" because you can easily watch them from the shore as well as out in the boats.

The Hawaiian Islands are the only place where I've seen breaches, too. Some even from the shore on the Big Island. Never seen one during whale watching trips in Maine, Boston or Alaska.

We have seen a few awesome breeches in Alaska as well but Hawaii is where all the activity is. We will go back in Feb.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Gorgeous pics! We just got back from Alaska and did a whale watching trip in Juneau.

As the tour boat driver decided to head home, a whale breached off starboard side. I had my 300 mm ready and got it as it breached a second time. It was fun to capture but the quality is far less that your beautiful series. Thank you for sharing! Joe
