Fantastic ! Actually to me it's hard to image how big they are and they actually look scary !
Thanks! Aww... they're not scary at all! They're gentle giants! In the winter of 2014 I'm actually planning a trip to go to Silver Bank in the Dominican Republic to swim with them. I can hardly wait!

Again, so awesome. When we go to Hawaii, they do not feed there. In fact, they only breed & give birth so after 5-6 weeks they head back to Alaska to their food source. We have seen some pretty skinny mama whales.....but then again, their calves drink nearly 100 gallons of milk an hour!
Yup! When they first show up here they're pretty skinny and hungry. We get them after they've mated and had their calves so after not eating and then having to nurse the calves, they get very thin! We actually have one mom and calf pair up here where the mom (who's named Tulip) is VERY skinny. Everyone is very concerned for her because you can see her shoulders and spine, not a good sign! We're all hoping that now that she's back on the feeding ground that she'll be able to put some weight back on, but it doesn't look very good right now.

I was on a raft (in Maui) with whales swimming right underneath me, so close my feet touched them. Not scary at all....so amazing

Now that sounds awesome!!!
