Yes old thread but what the hey... Well I just ordered my 1.4 and hood. I already have the 1.8 and love it. Why did I order the 1.4 then, You folks have said it... Build quality and I love the full time manual focus capability. The extra f stop is no big deal as the 1.8 is plenty fast for me. I wanted to also have the 58 filter size in case I want to use my polorizer for anything.

I have several basketball games lined up for the upcoming weeks. UIC Flames, Bulls, Triton Community College, St. Joseph HS, and my 12 year-old son has 4 games this weekend. So, I'm looking forward to putting the 85mm, 50mm, and 200mmL (on it's way) to use.

I have never used the 1.4 But I had the 1.8 for 3 weeks it did nothing for me.If Irealy needed a 50 prime I would go for the 1.4 the 1.8 is not that good at 1.8 I allso think the AF is hit and miss but like most will agree you cant beat it for THE MONEY.im sure if they cost $300 people would say they were junk.:D
