Hello everyone. I know this question has boiled up quite a bit but could use your advice. I am a photography that seems to be behind all the buzz with new technology. Particularly since I cannot afford half of this it seems. But here is my question and concerns and need your opinion.

First off, I adore my 5D classic, but I am thinking of upgrading to the Mk2 version, now that the Mk3 version is out. The 5Dc does absolutely everything that I asked it to do and even more. But I am wanting to take my photos one step further in the production sense. I would like to start increasing my printing capabilities for larger prints, and not always focus on the digital portfolio. I think the video performance would be nice for small production videos of the streets and the people. Mostly mounted tripod shots as people pass by.

I like to think of myself as more of a street type photographer. Do you feel that the Mk2 would be a worthwhile upgrade for the couple hundred bucks that it would take out after selling the 5Dc.

Please give me your thoughts, especially if you have done the similar upgrade, and was it worth it in your eyes.

I did NOT upgrade to the 5DII from the 5D (now 5Dc). I'm not a video shooter and the technical improvements did not seem to be enough for me. The 5D remains a very fine shooter.
However, when the 5DIII came out, the upgrade made sense to me, based on the technical improvements it brought. I always fought with the autofocus system in the 5D and went to center point only and recompose. The 5DIII system is a huge improvement. In camera HDR was also a big selling point to me. I had been experimenting with post-processing HDR and for landscape shooting, it's a big step forward. Although I'll still do PP HDR, having it available in camera is very handy.

My old 5D is now in the hands of my daughter-in-law who loves it and will, I hope, get many years of shooting with it.

Perfect resize is better value for bigger prints if that is your only aim. Having both I tend still to use the 5D for long exposure, ND work and manual shooting ( my autofocus is unreliable at best) and the 5DII for portrait work etc. Want to put the 5D in for refurb but due to what I use it for I don't really need to.

Don't sell the 5D....C'mon Man!!!!! Just kidding. I think you should get a 7d through the refurb site $1085 with the 20% off up to the 30th... and keep your 5D, that way you get to keep the classic and regain an awesome focus system and video capabilities. Just a thought. Good luck man!
