I'm going to a Maroon 5 concert (wife wants to).

i will be sitting at least 10 rows back from the stage.
i will only be sneaking stuff in (last time i brought a kit to that venue, it was the 300D and 85 1.8, i was severely ISO limited due to the camera)

now i'm bringing the 600D. but which lens, here they are in order of sneakability:
85 1.8 (small but short FL, will have to crop a lot)
100 2.8 IS (slightly longer and slower but with IS)
70-200 f/4 IS (very slow, but very flexible FL with IS)

which do you think i should bring, anybody survive using f/4 in a concert?

The 85 is easier to sneak but the IS on the 100 macro is really good but it is almost twice as big as the 85

you'll lose a stop by using a TC 1.4x and Im not sure if the 85 or 100 supports TC

Indoors or outdoors?

My imagine composition sucks. I need a heavier lens.

Nothing smaller than f/2.0 will be useful, if at all.

I shot an outdoor(but at night) concert..Trooper..2 years ago. Used only my 70-200 f/4L IS, ISO 1600 on T2i, and was a touch too slow. Got a few decent shots, but most were between 1/100-1/250. I was about 60 feet back from the stage, and i still had to crop pretty hard( and that's where any higher ISO would have hurt). :(

i don't see IS mattering all that much for this...i mean for the most part there will be subject movement, so shutters of less than 1/50 won't really be all that great anyways...if the concert is at all in bad light the 70-200f4IS seems useless to me...

It's Maroon 5, so I'd imagine they'd have some decent stage lighting and you should have no problem shooting @ f/2.8 + 1600-3200.

I say bring the 85mm. It will have good reach on a crop body, especially from only 10 rows back. Plus it'll be easier to sneak in. The IS on the other lenses won't really help you anyway. And the extra 1.5 stop will come in handy in case the lighting is bad.

They should have good lighting. Even f4 should work. Keep the shutter speed faster than 1/160 or so and crank the ISO up.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

The Kenko 1.4x TC works on the 85mm f/1.8. I've used it in the past when shooting ice hockey with a crop body, so auto focus performance is still quite good.

The 70-200 f4 is too obvious and IMO too slow. IS doesn't help much, as the shutter speed limit is dictated by subject movement, not camera shake.

Go for the 85 f1.8
