I had some free time today and decided to put together a shot with shallow DOF, ND filter, spot metering and ETTL. My daughter was co-operative, probably because the bubbles were distracting her. Here's the result:

My goal was to add light with flash and shoot at a small f-stop value (e.g. f/1.4). In order to do this, I needed to shoot at 1/200s or slower. But since this was in full sunlight, shooting with these settings would have let in way too much light. So I use the ND filter to cut down on the amount of light (4 stops). I then set the flash to output a lot of light to compensate. A speedlite is just usable in this conditions, I found. My studio lights, which give out 10 times the light, are much better suited to this task. alymariephotography wrote in post #14733065
Thanks for contributing to my thread! Is this your way of tempting me to have more kids?
