These pics are from 5/27/12. This was only our 2nd trip of the season so needless to say we were absolutely thrilled with our sightings. When I say we by the way, I'm referring to my mother and I. She's my whale watching buddy.
We had some surface feeding, but the highlights of the trip included an adult male named Putter who was lobtailing. This is when they take their flukes and just keep slapping the surface of the water. We got some fantastic looks at this behavior.

Shortly after we left Putter we found another whale to spend time with. This was a young whale, probably about 4 or 5 and her name was Sanchal. She became very curious about the boat and started to roll around and check us out. This went on for about 20 minutes before we had to slowly ease out of the area.

There was a group of kids on the boat today and they were in awe with their sightings, especially when Sanchal started to roll and raised her flipper out of the water just inches away from them. I'm sure they'll all remember this encounter!
