In the middle of June, the local high schools get together for a "friendly" 7v7 short sided soccer scrimmage. It gives the coaches a chance to see some of the returning talent, as well as, some incoming freshman. This year 7 high schools participated. There are 3 fields set up side by side going across the soccer pitch to allow 3 games to go on at the same time. Each game lasts 30 minutes. The boys played from 3pm to 9pm. My son plays for Washington High School (red t-shirts), so that's why these shots are focused on them. Shot with T1i and Sigma 70-200.

Nice work! Good sense of the intensity.

7 on 7 has to be a stone cold b*tch of a workout! Yikes!

Full-sized field?

They play short sided - meaning they go from touchline to touchline rather than goal line to goal line. This allows them to set up 3 fields on one full size field and have 3 games going on at the same time. It is a tremendous workout for the boys since they play each game in succession. 6 hours of soccer is a lot in one day. Thanks for commenting!

6 hours is insane! I don't see how it is even possible to be honest.

Thank you! Cropping is an ongoing concern of mine, specifically because I usually crop for 4x6 photos.

Indeed, it is insane. The boys that participate get two days off to allow there bodies to recooperate. It was extremely hot that day, too.

Very nice set of pictures! Great actions!

About the 6 hours, I already played a soccer tournament a whole day. The only rests moment were during lunch time and while we were waiting for our game. :-)

boggles my mind, most people, even pros, are pretty much gassed after two hours of soccer and done for the day

But we were not playing at the same level, with the same intensity.
But you're right, we were done at the end of the day. :)

Thanks blackjack. Each school fields two teams - JV and Varsity - so they do get a 30 minute break between games. Except for my son and a couple others who played JV and Varsity. He didn't seem to mind, though.

Here's another photo from the day. This guy is an incoming freshman and even though the soccer ball isn't in the photo, I love the positioning of his body.
