she is cute, but these look like they were taken in the midday sun which is not the most flattering light

Your friend is gorgeous (can't see the first two pictures - maybe because I'm at work). Dynamitetony is correct regarding the midday sunlight but still the pictures that I can see (3 and 4) look good. Just get a diffuser for situations like this (you'll also need an assistant, lol).

Ah, yeah. Facebook is definitely blocked. Your friend is stunning so she'll look good any time of the day, LOL!

Good job on these, I think your friend will be happy. Just a couple of little things I noticed. In 1, her skin tone looks a little more orange than the rest of these. I do recognize that she has more tanned skin to start with, but 1 seems a little more orange. Perhaps back off the saturation just a bit on the whole picture.

Second, in general with these, I think you could make her really pop out more from the pic with some more background blur. I don't know what focal length you shot these at, and I am not familiar with the 18-55 other than to know that its aperature range is something like 3.5-5.6. But even at the long end, 5.6, she was far enough away from the background that you should be able to get a good blur on it. The last two did a better job of this, and she popped out more in those.
