Despite that we are portrait/wedding shooters, we really look forward to this "I Want to Be" project. We started it last year and this year another school engaged us for their graduation class. You know, I gotta admit that working with kids are so fun and inspiring.

Here are some photos. The school has an outdoor forested park which we took advantage.

Brilliant set.....I love the idea.

One thing bugs me - and it's probably JUST be because I'm kind of anal like that - The boards were all written in the same handwriting which is great, but whoever wrote them mis-spelled VETERINARIAN.

But as I previously said.....I love these regardless and I think it's fab project.

I suspect the person printing was spelling "vetenarian" that way because that is how the little girl pronounced it. In any event, really cute set of pictures, well done in every regard!

Hi thanks for your comments!

Re: veterinarian spelling. haha you're not the first to discover that. My wife who was assisting me did the boards. Blame her. :D

It was good fun. We feel privileged each year to have the opportunity to do these sort of shoots. The teachers were really great and they were really into the swing of things too. It's a nice change from the lifestyle portraits.

Truly amazing. I am a learner so please forgive the questions. What equipment did you use? What body and lens combination did you use?

Aperture priority?

I can see shadows in the right places on most faces, was a flash used? Remote triggered?

Hi Alitech, you're not the first one that asked me this so no worries.
I used a 7d and 50mm mkI for this particular shoot leaving my usual go-to portrait camera 5d2 at home. Also this shoot was my "last dance" with my beloved 50mm mkI right before selling it off. It's replaced by a Sigmalux 50. For the group shots I used the EF 17-40L.

The 7d allowed me to trigger a couple of 580ex manually to compensate for some harsh light spearing down the forest canopy. I shot mostly in M and Av.

Nice work.. I suspect after seeing these, at least one would change their sign to say "photographer."

Thanks Beaner242!

@Hairy_moth: Don't know about that, but I can tell you some kids have potential to be models! I hardly need to direct them much at all. :)
