The Nikon D800 supports UHS-1 yet its raw writing speed to SD is only 60% of the rate to CF.

I can confirm that. The 95mb/s SDXC card is about on pair with the write speed of 60mb/s CF card. BUT, SD card is much cheaper than CF per GB and can plug into the MacbookPro without card reader!
The reading speed is faster too.
