Last week I was enjoying a lazy late afternoon, appreciating the birds that seemed to be in constant supply on the trees and feeders. Then Debby showed up, and we've been wet for a week or more, up until this afternoon.
I got these (and more) shots, all with a T3i + 100-400 at 400mm f/5.6, ISO 3200 to keep shutter fast enough in fading light:
The week previous I had snagged the same type of birds, perhaps the exact same birds, sharing the feeder (same equipment/settings except ISO 1600):
As you can tell, I was closer in the first couple shots - about 12 feet away. the last shot I was perhaps 20 feet away. Just sitting in a chair, no blind or camouflage.
I'm really itching to get out there and take some shots with my new 1.4 TC attached, to see how well the IQ compares. No time today - perhaps this weekend.
